BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION:

1. AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT ONE TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR DISTRIBUTION OF ADDITIONAL FY 08 BAY AREA URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) GRANT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $833,667 TO THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO;

2. AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE(S) TO SIGN APPENDIX B, GRANT ASSURANCES; AND

3. AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF IN HIS CAPACITY AS OES AREA COORDINATOR TO EXECUTE AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO THIS AGREEMENT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000; AND/OR TO MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo has previously received federal department of Homeland Security grant funds through the Urban Area Security Initiative Program (UASI) for which the City and County of San Francisco serves as the lead agency and contracts with the recipient agencies for distribution of funds; and

WHEREAS, in 2008, San Mateo County received funding in the amount of $354,962 from the Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative for the West Bay Information Sharing System and training for First Responders; and

WHEREAS, as part of the FY 2008 grant requirements, the County of San Mateo must enter into an agreement with the City and County of San Francisco for grant funding; and

WHEREAS, additional funds have been distributed by the Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for Interoperability Communications projects to expand and integrate regional standards-based voice and radio systems; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County has been awarded additional funding in the amount of $833,667 from the Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for Interoperability project; and

WHEREAS, this board has been presented with an amended agreement, and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into this amended agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to execute Amendment One to the Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, for distribution of additional FY 08 Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funding of $833,667 to the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto; and authorizes the Sheriff or the Sheriff’s designee (s) to sign Appendix B Grant Assurances; and authorizes the Sheriff in his capacity as OES Area Coordinator to execute Amendments and minor modifications to this Agreement not to exceed $25,000 and /or to modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
