RESOLUTION UPON THE RETIREMENT OF

 

Sheryl Pomerenk

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Sheryl Pomerenk has served as CEO of the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce for eleven years; and

   

WHEREAS, Sheryl has expanded and brought many new programs and events to the community, promoting the mission of the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce, including a highly visited interactive website, business expos, the Pulse of Business Educational Seminars, the Gift Certificate Program, and a Hot Harvest Nights Farmers’ Market, among others; and

   

WHEREAS, Sheryl has promoted a partnership with the City of San Carlos through co-sponsored events, economic development projects such as the Shop San Carlos Program, and the publishing of a City Economic Profile; and

   

WHEREAS, prior to her work at the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce, Sheryl Pomerenk has served her community by assisting in crafting a new Senate Bill to promote and stimulate tourism post 9/11, being elected President of the California Association of Regional Occupational Programs in 1994-95, and being chosen as one of four statewide representatives to serve three years on a Public Relations Advisory Board to the California Association of Regional Occupational Programs;

 

WHEREAS, Sheryl’s public efforts have been recognized by many other leaders throughout the County, for example, she was selected by Assembly Member Jackie Speier and Assemblyman Ted Lempert to serve on their Education and Business Advisory Committees, and she was nominated for San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame in 1989 for volunteer work and community involvement.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby congratulate Sheryl Pomerenk on her retirement and extend its best wishes to Sheryl on her future endeavors. Sheryl will always be remembered for her many contributions to the community of San Carlos and San Mateo County.
