SUBJECT:

Appoint Jonathan T. Symonds to the San Mateo County Agricultural Advisory Committee.

RECOMMENDATION:

Appoint Jonathan T. Symonds to the San Mateo County Agricultural Advisory Committee as a Public Member. The appointment would run for a term to conclude on November 30, 2013.

BACKGROUND:

There is currently one vacant position on the Agricultural Advisory Committee representing a public member. A recruitment for the vacancy occurred and interviews were conducted. The Board was fortunate to have two very strong candidates apply for the position, and during the interviews, one stood out.

DISCUSSION:

Mr. Symonds is currently employed as a Vice President of Strategic Marketing and resides in Emerald Hills. He has had extensive civic experience through Workforce Investment Board, which this Board appointed him to in 2004. He has also worked for charitable organizations such as Teach for America. His dedication to the community and strong business background will make him an excellent public member of the Agricultural Advisory Board.
