RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

JACK CRIST

WHEREAS, JACK CRIST began his long career of public service upon joining the U.S. Army in 1965 and serving two years in Vietnam as an Army Aviator, before returning home, meeting his soon-to-be wife Margaret in 1967, and marrying in 1969; and

WHEREAS, JACK CRIST, upon receiving his CPA license in 1973, was hired by the City of Sacramento as their Chief Accountant, and proceeded to be promoted first to Director of Finance, and then to Deputy City Manager, until he was hired by the City of Modesto as City Manager in 2000; and

WHEREAS, JACK CRIST joined the City of Belmont in 2005 as the Interim City Manager and, although intending to retire following recruitment of a permanent City Manager and an extended RV trip in 2006, JACK signed on for a second round with the City of Belmont as the permanent City Manager for another three years; and

WHEREAS, JACK CRIST made significant contributions to the City of Belmont during his period as City Manager, leading the city on an extensive list of policies, including the fire department reorganization, the smoking ordinance, open space and economic development property acquisitions, future economic development planning, and budget issues; and

WHEREAS, JACK CRIST has exhibited tremendous leadership, serving as a mentor to employees, providing a positive face for the community, and guiding the City of Belmont in policy and planning, and is now looking forward to the next big adventure in a well-earned retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends JACK CRIST for his years of leadership and community service to the City of Belmont.
