*DR. SARAH D. “SALLY” STEWART, Ph.D.*

*Whereas, Dr. Stewart served on the Sequoia Union High School District Board of Trustees for twenty-six years; and*

*Whereas, Dr. Stewart is the longest-serving trustee in Sequoia Union High School District’s history; and*

**Whereas, California Governor Edmund “Jerry” Brown appointed Dr. Stewart to the State Commission on Teacher Preparation and Licensing (1982-1985) where she served as president in 1985; and**

Whereas, Dr. Stewart co-founded Interdistrict-Interaction in Sequoia Union High School District, a program whose purpose is to promote educational articulation between schools as well as cultural and ethnic awareness among students; and

Whereas, Dr. Stewart served as the representative for the American Association of University Women and became a founding member of the nonprofit California Coalition for Fair School Finance (now EdSource), one of the most widely respected resources for information on California public education in the state; and

Whereas, in 2003, Dr. Stewart received her Masters Degree and Certificate from Antioch University in Whole Systems Design, Organizational Systems Renewal, enabling her to create more effective systems for the students she serves; and

*Whereas, Dr. Stewart has given her time and expertise to numerous nonprofits that benefit young people; and*

*Whereas, throughout her career, Dr. Stewart has shown unwavering commitment to ensuring that each student receives the necessary tools to succeed in school and beyond.*

*NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of* *San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends Dr. Sarah D. Stewart for her dedication* *to education in San Mateo County and throughout California.*
