THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS | ||||
RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE | ||||
SPRITE STEP OFF SERVICE CHALLENGE | ||||

WHEREAS, on February 6, 2010, the Sprite Step Off Service Challenge service event will take place in East Palo Alto at the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula Moldaw-Zaffaroni Clubhouse; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Sprite Step Off Challenge is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula to host a service activity in East Palo Alto; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Sprite Step Off Challenge is a step competition between multicultural college students with a total of $1.5 million in scholarship prizes; and | ||||
WHEREAS, to coincide with the $1.5 million in scholarship prizes, the Sprite Step Off Challenge on Americans to donate 1.5 million hours of Community Service and all contestants participate in a service day at each competition city; and | ||||
WHEREAS, at part of the service activity, Sprite will present the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula’s Moldaw-Zaffaroni Clubhouse a check for $4,500 along with over 100 books; and | ||||
WHEREAS, through the Sprite Step Off Challenge, Sprite encourages all local youth to focus on education, active living and community service. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby extend its best wishes to the organizers and participants of the Sprite Step Off Challenge and appreciates all their volunteer efforts on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. | ||||
