RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING | |||||
LARRY PURCELL | |||||

WHEREAS, Larry Purcell has been selected as the Individual recipient of the 2010 Sequoia Award for his many contributions to our community; and | |||||
WHEREAS, Larry Purcell is being honored for his efforts at the Catholic Worker House in Redwood City and his work with the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation; and | |||||
WHEREAS, in 1975, Larry Purcell founded the Catholic Worker House to serve the needs of the poor in Redwood City and the surrounding area and | |||||
WHEREAS, since its founding, the Catholic Worker House has touched the lives of countless local residents and through its services the Catholic Worker House has been a beacon of hope for those in need; and | |||||
WHEREAS, throughout the past 15 years, Larry Purcell has worked closely with the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation to develop and implement new strategies to serve the homeless, the hungry and the poor in Redwood City; and | |||||
WHEREAS, through both the Catholic Worker House and the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, Larry Purcell has dedicated himself to making Redwood City a better place to live for all of its residents; and | |||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby congratulate Larry Purcell on his receipt of a Sequoia Award, and thank him for all his service to our community. | |||||
