THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING*

*The California Department of Housing and Community Development Staff*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
WHEREAS, all the jurisdictions in San Mateo County collaborated through the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) to form a sub region for the distribution of regional housing needs allocations (RHNA) among all jurisdictions as part of Phase 1 of the 21 Elements process; and

WHEREAS Phase 2 of the 21 Elements process also involved participation of jurisdiction staff in sharing best practices and in identifying issues of common concern in the preparation of their housing elements; and

WHEREAS, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) regularly participated in 21 Elements meetings during the Phase 2 process, and provided invaluable editorial input for the website materials and this support and participation allowed jurisdiction staff to ask pertinent questions that increased awareness of best practices being used around the State; and

*WHEREAS, HCD staff spent three days touring San Mateo County with jurisdiction staff which helped them identify opportunities and challenges that the County faces; and*

WHEREAS, throughout the RHNA process, the positive and constructive collaboration between HCD Staff, 21 Elements staff and the jurisdictions in the County promoted effective housing policies and programs and increased housing opportunities in San Mateo County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize Director Lynn Jacobs, Deputy Director Cathy Creswell, and Program Manager Paul McDougall, and the staff of the California Department of Housing and Community Development for their support of and participation in the San Mateo County 21 Elements Housing Element Update Project.
