RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

San Mateo Credit Union

Upon the Celebration of the

30th Anniversary of its Main Branch

525 Middlefield Road, Redwood City

WHEREAS, in January 1980, the San Mateo County Employees’ Credit Union opened a new branch at 525 Middlefield Road in downtown Redwood City, and

   

WHEREAS, created in 1952 to provide general banking services exclusively to county employees and their families, the credit union’s current membership welcomes anyone who lives, works or attends school in San Mateo County; and

   

WHEREAS, through that singular branch on Middlefield Road in 1980, the credit union served some 9,500 members and held $19 million in assets; 30 years later, the credit union’s assets top $584 million and its six branches serve more than 71,000 members; and

   

WHEREAS, over the years, the drive-through teller window at Middlefield Road has given way to the convenience of ATMs at the credit union’s six branches, plus an additional 12 ATMs countywide and 25,000 fee-free ATMs across North America; and

   

WHEREAS, the San Mateo Credit Union remains committed to the people and places of the Peninsula and consistently demonstrates such commitment through its generous support of organizations and events, large and small, public and private.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the San Mateo Credit Union upon the 30th anniversary of its main branch at 525 Middlefield Road. The Board expresses its gratitude to the credit union and extends sincere wishes for at least another 30 years of excellence and success.
