RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Denise Aquila

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, Denise Aquila’s public life started in 1984 through her involvement with the Girl Scouts; however, she is much better known as the “Coastal Soccer Queen” based on her founding of an American Youth Soccer Organization chapter for Half Moon bay and the coast; and

WHEREAS, from 2003 through 2008, Denise served as board chair for the San Mateo County Realtors’ Foundation, which supports charitable organizations in the county; she has personally raised significant amounts for the foundation’s work; and

WHEREAS, Denise has contributed her vast real estate knowledge as a founding commissioner on the county’s Housing Endowment and Regional Trust, which focuses on creating more affordable housing choices on the Peninsula; and

WHEREAS, Denise also finds the time to serve on the advisory council of Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse, San Mateo County’s sole domestic violence agency; and

WHEREAS, through her volunteer work, Denise has improved lives throughout San Mateo County, from sports to housing to helping Hispanic youth to providing herself as a cancer survivor to inspire others.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Denise Aquila upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to Denise and adds sincere wishes for continued success and excellence.
