RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING | ||||
Luisa Buada | ||||
Upon Her Induction Into The | ||||
San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame | ||||

WHEREAS, in 2002, Luisa Buada took over the helm of the Ravenswood Family Health Center as CEO, and has charted a course to update and expand the clinic’s safety net services for southern San Mateo County’s underserved populations; and | ||||
WHEREAS, using some three decades of insights and experiences – including time in the 1970s as a health care worker at a United Farm Workers clinic – Luisa truly understands the physical and mental health care needs of a marginalized people; and | ||||
WHEREAS, under Luisa’s guidance, RFHC has grown from one site serving 2,580 patients in 2002 to three sites and 100 staffers caring for some 9,000 clients a year; since opening in December 2001, RFHC has seen more than 24,000 enrollees; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Luisa has served on the county’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Expansion, and was deeply involved in partnering RFHC with the Health Plan of San Mateo to implement Access and Care for Everyone; and | ||||
WHEREAS, despite 12-hour days and seemingly endless meetings and paperwork, Luisa still manages to mentor and influence those around her to be the next generation of leaders, so RFHC remains focused on effectively and efficiently meeting the health care needs of southern San Mateo County. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Luisa Buada upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to Luisa and adds sincere wishes for continued success and excellence. | ||||
