RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING | ||||
Sally Stewart | ||||
Upon Her Induction Into The | ||||
San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame | ||||

WHEREAS, Sally Stewart has served the people of San Mateo County for nearly four decades, starting in 1971 on the Portola Valley Elementary School District board as one of just a handful of women to hold public office; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in 1983, Sally was elected to the Sequoia Union High School District board, from where she will retire in 2010 after seven terms; and | ||||
WHEREAS, over the years, Sally has served on the San Mateo County School Boards Association, the California School Boards Association, the Educational Congress of California and the Commission on Teacher Credentialing; plus, she was executive director and research report editor for the Institute for Effective School Leadership; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Sally also was the first board president of SPARK, a summer apprenticeship program for youth; and through her work with the League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women and the California State Parent Teacher Association, Sally helped create EdSource, formerly known as the California Coalition for Fair School Finance; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Sally’s nearly four decades of tireless education advocacy has touched the lives of at least two generations of individuals and families throughout San Mateo County and the positive results are easily seen in the successes of countless students current and former. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Sally Stewart upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to Sally and adds sincere wishes for continued success and excellence. | ||||
