BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ASSESSOR-COUNTY CLERK-RECORDER TO EXECUTE: A) AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA SECRETARY OF STATE UNDER THE “HELP AMERICA VOTE ACT OF 2002” FOR REIMBURSEMENTS UP TO $155,012.20 FOR A TERM ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2011; AND B) AMENDMENTS TO THE AGREEMENT AND OTHER DOCUMENTS AS REQUIRED BY THE HAVA PROGRAM.

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, Section 303(a) of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-252, 107th Congress) (“HAVA”) requires that each state election official implement a single, uniform, official, centralized, interactive computerized statewide voter registration list, defined, maintained, and administered at the state level that contains the name and registration information of every legally registered voter in the state; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County entered into an agreement approved by this Board on November 10, 2009 with DFM Associates to provide a Voter Registration System to replace a previous twelve (12) year-old system and to support integration with the new statewide voter registration database (VoteCal) by 2011; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County received a funding agreement from the Secretary of State on February 25, 2010, whereby the County secured its allocation in the amount of $155,012.20 under HAVA Section 303 for the reimbursement of its migration costs to the new Voter Registration System, which will support the integration with the current and new statewide voter registration database.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder to execute: (A) an agreement with the California Secretary of State under the “Help America Vote Act of 2002” for reimbursements up to $155,012.20 under HAVA Section 303 for the period through December 31, 2011; and (B) amendments and other documents as required to implement the HAVA program.
