THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

POLICE CHIEF SUSAN E. MANHEIMER

WHEREAS, POLICE CHIEF SUSAN E. MANHEIMER, prior to joining the City of San Mateo, served 16 years with the San Francisco Police Department, where she did robbery decoy work, gang and violent-crime suspension, and served her last assignment as Captain of the Tenderloin Task Force; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF MANHEIMER was appointed Chief of Police for the City of San Mateo in May 2000 and has since provided leadership to the City both on a local and regional level; and

WHEREAS, CHIEF MANHEIMER has implemented a variety of innovative programs during her time in San Mateo, including the highly successful Homeless Outreach Team and the Adopt-A-School program ,and whereas she has been a leader in partnering with the Tongan Interfaith Council for Central San Mateo County, the Juvenile Hall Assessment and Diversion Center, and the countywide Gang Task Force, which she helped to found; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF MANHEIMER has expanded her service beyond San Mateo through her participation as a member of the San Mateo County Juvenile Justice Advisory Group, the San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council, the Board of Fight Crime Invest in Kids California, the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, the University of San Francisco Law Enforcement Institute, and as a Governor’s appointee to the State Advisory Group for Juvenile Justice Delinquency and Crime Prevention; and

 

WHEREAS, CHIEF MANHEIMER was installed on March 3, 2010 as the first female President of the California Police Chiefs’ Association and will lead the 338-member organization for the year 2010 with her deep-seated dedication to and leadership in the law enforcement profession; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF MANHEIMER has never wavered from her commitment to the community she serves, both in her professional obligations and in her involvement in the policymaking arena, and whereas she continues to provide innovative direction and leadership in a multitude of roles;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends POLICE CHIEF SUSAN E. MANHEIMER upon her installation as President of the California Police Chiefs’ Association and in honor of her ongoing commitment to the law enforcement profession and to the San Mateo County community at large.
