COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING APRIL 2010 AS

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County that the month of April be designated as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH; and

   

WHEREAS, every child in San Mateo County is a precious gift, full of promise and potential; and child abuse and neglect is a serious problem in San Mateo County and across the nation; and

   

WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect can be reduced by making sure each family has the support they need to raise their children in a healthy environment; and

   

WHEREAS, all children learn from role models at home, at their place of worship, at school, and in their communities and all children benefit from the love and leadership displayed by caring and responsible adults; and

 

WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships created among social service agencies, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby proclaims APRIL 2010 as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH.
