RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING THE

BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE ON ADULT HEALTH COVERAGE EXPANSION

For its contribution toward county- and nation- wide healthcare reform

WHEREAS, the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion was created in 2005 by the Board of Supervisors in order to expand health coverage to more than 40,000 uninsured adults in San Mateo County ; and

 

WHEREAS, the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion’s membership consists of a broad-based, community-wide coalition of representatives from healthcare providers, chambers of commerce, labor, local governments, and community advocacy organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, the work of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion has resulted in meaningful gains in the quality and efficiency of San Mateo County’s healthcare delivery system; and

WHEREAS, the work of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion has resulted in the expansion of coverage to more than 6,700 previously uninsured County residents through the Access to Coverage for Everyone (ACE) program; and

 

WHEREAS, local coverage initiatives such as the one carried forward by the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion helped advance the cause of nationwide health reform, which will result in 65,000 previously uninsured County residents gaining health insurance.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo commends the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Coverage Expansion for its leadership in helping solve one of the County’s most pressing problems and, in the process, advancing the cause of nationwide healthcare reform.
