RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

DAVID LEA

2010 SAN MATEO COUNTY FARMER OF THE YEAR

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, David Lea was born in San Mateo and after graduating from Half Moon Bay High School he earned his Bachelor of Science from Chico State University; and

WHEREAS, following college, Mr. Lea gained a new perspective on farming when he went to work for George Ginilo at the office of the County Agriculture Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, following his work for the County Agricultural Commissioner, David Lea started farming Cabrillo Farms with his father Ed; and

WHEREAS, David Lea has given back to the Coastside community in many ways through Farming and local youth; and

WHEREAS, as part of his philanthropic activities, David Lea has given educational tours of Cabrillo Farms to school groups and other organizations, and has coached softball to many local young people; and

WHEREAS, David Lea has also show a devotion to farming as well through serving on the San Mateo County Farm Bureau and has served on the Board and as President of Farm Supply Cooperative.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize and congratulate David Lea on his hard work and the success of his farming business, and gives its thanks to his commitment to the community and Coastside farming.
