RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A FOURTH AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH KAISER FOUNDATION HOSPITALS TO PROVIDE HOSPITAL SERVICES, EXTENDING THE TERM THROUGH MARCH 31, 2010, FOR A NEW TERM OF NOVEMBER 1, 2005 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2010.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on November 1, 2005 the County Manager approved an Agreement with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals (Kaiser) to provide hospital services to Kaiser patients for a term of November 1, 2005 through October 31, 2008, for an amount paid by Kaiser to San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) not to exceed $100,000; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser has consistently paid SMMC in excess of $500,000 each fiscal year during the term of this Agreement; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser has submitted an Amendment to extend the current Agreement with SMMC through March 31, 2010, which will allow for payment of monies owed SMMC and to allow time for notification to Kaiser patients that there is no longer an Agreement in place between SMMC and Kaiser; and

WHEREAS, both parties wish to amend the Agreement extending the term of the contract; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Amendment and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into it.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
