RESOLUTION INCREASING THE
SHERIFF’S OFFICE JAIL ACCESS FEE BY $57 TO $303 FOR FY 2010-11,
PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 29551-29552

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:
|
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 29551 authorizes counties to charge arresting agencies a Jail Access Fee for each booking on specified code violation and misdemeanor violation offenders into county detention facilities, above a three-year rolling average; and
|
WHEREAS, the Jail Access Fee is required to be set at a rate not to exceed the actual cost of booking an arrested person into the local detention facility, and may be charged for each booking in excess of the three-year average; and
|
WHEREAS, an experienced national public sector research firm has determined that the County of San Mateo’s actual cost of booking an arrested person into the County’s detention facility is $303.65; and
|
WHEREAS, the proposed Jail Access Fee, which reflects the amount required to recover the gap in state funding for the booking fee, does not exceed the actual cost of booking an arrested person into the County’s detention facility; and
|
WHEREAS, affected and interested parties, including all police departments within the County, have been advised and noticed of the public meeting to consider the increase of this fee, in accordance with Government Code Section 29550:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED BY THE Board of Supervisors, County of San Mateo, that the Jail Access Fee to be charged is hereby set at $303, effective July 1, 2010.
