BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE:

A.

PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT TWO TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR DISTRIBUTION OF FY 2008 BAY AREA URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) GRANT FUNDING, INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $551,700 TO $1,740,329, AND EXTENDING THE TERM THROUGH JANUARY 31, 2011;

B.

SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE(S) TO SIGN APPENDIX B, GRANT ASSURANCES; AND

C.

SHERIFF IN HIS CAPACITY AS OES AREA COORDINATOR TO EXECUTE AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO THIS AGREEMENT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000; AND/OR TO MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo has previously received federal department of Homeland Security grant funds through the Urban Area Security Initiative Program (UASI) for which the City and County of San Francisco serves as the lead agency and contracts with the recipient agencies for distribution of funds; and

WHEREAS, in 2008, San Mateo County received funding in the amount of $1,188,629 from the Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative for the West Bay Information Sharing System and training for First Responders; and

WHEREAS, On September 15, 2009, the County entered into an Agreement (Resolution No. 070380) with the City and County of San Francisco for the distribution of funds to San Mateo County as part of the FY 2008 Urban Area Security Initiative federal grant, in an amount not to exceed $354,962; and

WHEREAS, On January 26, 2010, Amendment One to the Agreement was approved (Resolution No. 070619), increasing the amount not to exceed by $833,667, from $354,962 to $1,188,629; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County has been awarded additional funding in the amount of $551,700 from the FY 2008 Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for the Interoperability Project, Countywide alerting system, and participation in the Golden Guardian, a regional exercise with the Port of Redwood City; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with Amendment Two, and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the:

A.

President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to execute Amendment Two to the Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto;

B.

Sheriff or the Sheriff’s designee (s) is hereby authorized to sign Appendix B Grant Assurances; and

C.

Sheriff in his capacity as OES Area Coordinator is hereby authorized to execute Amendments and minor modifications to this Agreement not to exceed $25,000 and /or to modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
