RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE 1) HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE A THREE-YEAR AGREEMENT, WITH TWO YEAR OPTIONS TO EXTEND, WITH NORTHERN CLAIMS MANAGEMENT TO PROVIDE A WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIMS PROCESSING INCLUDING ACCOUNTS PAYABLE AND MEDICARE SET ASIDE PROGRAMS FOR THE TERM OF JUNE 1, 2010 THROUGH MAY 31, 2013 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,308,186; AND 2) HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR OR THE DIRECTOR'S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY'S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California,

 

WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department, after conducting a request for proposal, wishes to enter into an agreement with a third party administrator to manage the workers’ compensation program on behalf of the County;

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources recommends that the County execute a three year agreement with Northern Claims Management, Inc for the administration of the workers’ compensation program from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2013, with a right at the sole discretion of the County to exercise one or two one-year options to extend the agreement;

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration the agreement and the Board has approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter such agreement.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Human Resources Director, upon approval by County Counsel, to enter into said agreement with Northern Claims Management, Inc. in an amount to exceed $2,308,186 for a three year term, plus $799,368 if the County exercises its fourth year option, plus $814,855 if the County exercises its fifth year option.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Human Resources Director or the Director's designee to execute contract amendments which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
