RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH SAN MATEO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION (SMCOE) TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR CHILDREN IN THE SHELTER/FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, EXTENDING THE TERM BY ONE YEAR, JUNE 30, 2011, INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $101,970 TO $305,910,$33,650 IS NET COUNTY COST

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County and SMCOE entered into an Agreement by Resolution Number 069471 on June 3, 2008 in the amount of $203,940 for the term of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2010 for the purpose of educational services for children in the shelter/foster care system to help children retain valuable school credits and be placed into appropriate school programs; and

WHEREAS, this Amendment to the Agreement increases the Agreement amount by $101,970 for a new total obligation of $305,910 and the term is extended by one year to June 30, 2011 ; and

WHEREAS, this Amendment will allow the SMCOE Educational Liaison to continue providing case management services for shelter/foster care students, which includes placing youth in appropriate school settings, obtaining educational histories, referring students for educational assessment, and providing advocacy and support for youth as needed; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Amendment to the Agreement and has examined and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
