BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION A) ACCEPTING THE FY 2009 CONGRESSIONALLY SELECTED GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $200,000; AND B) AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE GRANT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO AGREEMENTS, AMENDMENTS, AND GRANT ASSURANCES.

 
 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

    WHEREAS, the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) congressionally selected the County to receive $200,000 of federal earmark funds for the County Gender Response Program; and

    WHEREAS, the Congressionally Selected Awards Program, administered by BJA, helps improve the functioning of the criminal justice system; and

    WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office on behalf of the County of San Mateo, successfully applied for and received award of the FY 2009 Congressional Selected Grants Program, in the amount of $200,000 to fund staffing costs for 12 months for the new Women’s Transitional Facility; and

    WHEREAS, these expenditures will assist in improving the functioning of the criminal justice system by offering women a work furlough experience that helps them transition from custody to the community; and

    WHEREAS, this Board wishes to authorize the Sheriff to execute all documents necessary for the administration of the grant.

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT:

A.

The Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the County of San Mateo, hereby accepts the FY 2009 Congressionally Selected Grant award in the amount of $200,000; and

B.

The Sheriff or Sheriff’s designee is hereby authorized and directed to execute all necessary documents in connection with this grant, including but not limited to, agreements, amendments, and grant assurances.
