RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

 

Carl Bunch

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Carl Bunch is receiving the San Mateo County Central Labor Council’s 2010 Committee on Political Education (C.O.P.E.) Community Award; and

   

WHEREAS, while in junior college, Mr. Bunch worked at Kaiser Steel in Napa for 18 months on the swing and graveyard shifts building steel tanks and pressure vessels as a ship fitter. After graduation, Carl Bunch worked for the United States Department of Labor in Washington D.C. during the Kennedy administration reviewing state unemployment compensation decisions; and

   

WHEREAS, in 1996, Mr. Bunch returned to the Bay Area and worked in union-side labor law for the firm of Carroll, Davis, Burdick & McDonough; and

   

WHEREAS, Carl Bunch decided to open his own law office representing labor unions in the Bay Area in 1971. For over twenty years Mr. Bunch represented various local labor unions; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bunch has worked for the San Francisco Attorney’s labor team, the San Francisco Mayor’s office as Employee Relations Director for the City, and has worked with the San Francisco Airport upon his return to the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office; and

   

WHEREAS, Carl Bunch’s commitment to fairness in all of his proceedings, regardless of which side he represents, is commendable, and his legal career is a shining example of how he has tirelessly served his community.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby congratulate Carl Bunch on his receiving San Mateo County Central Labor Council’s 2010 C.O.P.E. Community Award, and extends its best wishes to him in the coming years.
