THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING AUGUST 1ST, 2010 AS

TOUR DE PENINSULA DAY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the Tour de Peninsula Day has become an annual event providing an opportunity to celebrate bicycle riding and the beauty of San Mateo County; and

   

WHEREAS, the Tour de Peninsula is a bicycle tour and not a race allowing people of all ages and abilities to participate; and

   

WHEREAS, the Tour de Peninsula follows a course through the San Mateo County communities of San Mateo, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Millbrae, Woodside and unincorporated areas including Skyline, Coyote Point Park and the Sawyer Camp Trail of the San Mateo County Department of Parks; and

   

WHEREAS, the Tour de Peninsula now includes three routes of varying length and ability in addition to incorporating a children only course within Coyote Point park; and

   

WHEREAS, the Tour de Peninsula is a benefit for the San Mateo County Parks Foundation with event proceeds supporting the programs of the foundation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby declares August 1st, 2010 as “Tour de Peninsula Day” in San Mateo County.
