RECOMMENDATION:
|
Appoint Tricia Berke Vinson, representing the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, to the In-Home Support Services Advisory Committee to a term expiring on December 31, 2014.
|
|
|
BACKGROUND:
|
The In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee was created to ensure the independence and dignity of elderly and disabled consumer of home care and to advise the Board of Supervisors on services and functions of the of the IHSS Public Authority.
|
|
|
Terms on the Advisory Committee are for four years with a twelve year limitation.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION:
|
Tricia Berke Vinson is a Directing Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and Director of Legal Aid’s Health Consumer Center.
|
|
|
Ms. Vinson has represented many low-income, disabled and senior clients as an attorney for both Bay Area Legal Aid and at the Legal Aid Society, and currently works with many individuals who experience difficulties accessing health care with public and private insurance coverage.
