BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION: A) WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS PROCESS; AND B) AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH PENINSULA YMCA C/O YMCA OF SAN FRANCISCO YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU (YSB) TO PROVIDE INTERVENTION SERVICES AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO DETENTION FOR YOUTH ON PROBATION FOR THE TERM JULY 1, 2009 TO DECEMBER 31, 2009 IN THE AMOUNT OF $110,241

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is essential to contract with YSB for the purpose of providing counseling in a safe structured environment where youth can improve in academics, life skills, health and wellness, which will help them to build healthy relationships with their families and their communities; and

WHEREAS, the Probation Department wishes to contract with YSB in the amount of $110,241 for the term of July 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 for the provision of youth supervision services; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County to waive the Request for Proposals process as the contractor was selected by the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, the body authorized to allocate funding under the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with the form of this Agreement and has examined and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into said Agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that

A) The RFP Process is waived;

B) The President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
