B.

amendments and minor modifications to this Agreement not to exceed an aggregate of $25,000 and/or modify the agreement term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.

BACKGROUND:

On a yearly basis, the Department of Fish and Game awards county operational areas grant funding to update their local Oil Spill Contingency Plan, identify gaps, attend area committee meetings and participate in a statewide oil spill drill.

DISCUSSION:

After the Cosco Buson oil spill, it is necessary that the County of San Mateo be prepared for any type of spill that could occur on the Coast or the Bayside of the County.

This grant allows the Office of Emergency Services (OES) to update and expand the County’s Oil Spill Contingency Plan, participate in the statewide Oil Spill Drill and become more familiar with managing an oil spill event should it happen in San Mateo County.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Resolution as to form.

This grant funding aligns with the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Collaborative Community by bringing together law enforcement and fire agencies, Public Health, Emergency Medical Services, Public Safety Communications and other vital functions in the County during a disaster or incident through the use of mutual aid.
