RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
|
|
ALAN KIRTH
AS MILLBRAE
2010 MAN OF THE YEAR
|
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
|
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that ALAN KIRTH is being honored at Millbrae’s 2010 Millbrae Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for outstanding voluntary service to the community; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, ALAN KIRTH has been active in the community for many years, especially helping the youth of Millbrae learn leadership skills, and helping to promote international friendship with Millbrae’s Sister City of La Serena; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, ALAN KIRTH has served as President of the Millbrae Rotary for three terms, and was instrumental in developing the Rotary Club relationship with the Rotary Club in La Serena, Chile, and in the Rotaplast project which provides free surgery to correct cleft lips and palates, and establishing a Sister City relationship with La Serena, Chile that continues today; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, ALAN KIRTH co-created and successfully ran “A Taste of California” for Millbrae Rotary for several years, which raised funds that have been used for scholarships and for Rotary community projects in Millbrae; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, ALAN KIRTH has served as Mills High School Interact Club Rotary advisor since the fall of 1999, which gives high schools students the opportunity to be involved in Rotary and community service, and has motivated and empowered Interact students to participate in several community and international service projects which they have either created or helped to fund; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, ALAN KIRTH has been a vital leader and contributor for countless community service projects in Millbrae, and truly embodies the Rotary’s motto of “Service above Self.”
|
|
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on this 8th day of October, two thousand and ten, hereby honors and commends ALAN KIRTH as Millbrae’s 2010 Man of the Year for his outstanding volunteer service. The citizens of Millbrae and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of ALAN KIRTH. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations.
