RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

20^th Anniversary of the Sister City Agreement

between the

City of San Bruno

and the

City of Narita, Japan

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the relationship between San Bruno, California and Narita, Japan started in 1982 between the Rotary Clubs of the two cities, and a Sister City agreement was signed in 1990; and

WHEREAS, in the past 20 years, hundreds of delegates and students have traveled across the ocean to participate in a cultural exchange; and

WHEREAS, students have stayed in the homes of their counterparts, tried different cuisines and seen local places of interest; and

WHEREAS, San Bruno delegations have participated in Narita’s Gion Festival, have explored many areas of Japan including Narita, Tokyo and Chiba, and Narita delegates have participated in San Bruno community events and have explored San Bruno and places of interest in Northern California.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on August 18, 2010, hereby honors and commends the City of San Bruno, the City of Narita and the Narita International Friendship Society on the 20^th Anniversary of it’s Sister City agreement, and extends it’s best wishes for a continuing relationship that benefits both cities for many years to come.
