BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION:

A.

ACCEPTING THE FY 2010 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $191,086; AND

B.

AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE GRANT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO AGREEMENTS, AMENDMENTS, AND GRANT ASSURANCES.

 
 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

    WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants (JAG) Program, through the of U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, supports all components of the criminal justice system and address crime through the provision of services directly to individuals and/or communities and by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of criminal justice systems, processes and procedures; and

    WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the County of San Mateo and disparate jurisdictions, which include Daly City, East Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Mateo and South San Francisco, applied for and was awarded the FY 2010 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grants Program, in the amount of $191,086; and

    WHEREAS, the County and cities agreed that the Sheriff’s Office be the fiscal agent and that 10% of each jurisdiction’s allocated amount be designated as administrative fee which will be used to purchase computer equipment and office supplies and fund training associated with grant management; and

    WHEREAS, in a collaborative effort to help alleviate the effects of the fiscal crisis, the Sheriff’s Office, in agreement with the Chiefs of Police from the six disparate cities, will expend FY 2010 JAG funds for the analyses of all types of evidence submitted to the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Laboratory.

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the:

A.

Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the County of San Mateo, hereby accepts the FY 2010 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program in the amount of $191,086; and

B.

Sheriff or Sheriff’s designee is hereby authorized and directed to execute all necessary documents in connection with this grant, including but not limited to, agreements, amendments, and grant assurances.
