BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING (A) THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE SAN MATEO COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS (COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT) TO PROVIDE AFTER-SCHOOL ACADEMIC PROGRAM GRANTS, THE TERM IS JANUARY 1, 2011 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2012 FOR THE AMOUNT OF $600,000, THIS IS 100% NET COUNTY COST, AND (B) THE DIRECTOR OF THE HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY OR THE DIRECTOR'S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY'S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, The Board of Supervisors determined the need to provide grants to fund after-school homework centers in San Mateo County school districts that would provide tutoring services to support students that are English Language learners and students with below basic skills in math and/or English; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the County’s intention to award the County Superintendent a Grant Agreement in the amount of $600,000 over a two year school term of January 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012 for the purpose of funding elementary or middle after-school tutoring centers for 16 local school districts throughout San Mateo County serving approximately 3,500 students annually; and

 
 
 

WHEREAS, this Board is being asked to authorize the Director of the Human Services Agency or the Director’s designee to execute contract amendments which modify the County’s maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the Grant Agreement and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the

A. The President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Grant Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo; and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto; and

B. The Director of the Human Services Agency or the Director’s designee is hereby authorized to execute contract amendments which modify the County’s maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
