RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

BEATRIZ “BETTY” RODRIGUEZ

Women In County Government’s 2010 Community Service Award Winner

WHEREAS, BETTY RODRIGUEZ exemplifies a true community advocate as a Public Health Nurse, working hard for the communities and families she serves on the coast of San Mateo County and ensuring that they are afforded quality healthcare and access to resources; and

 

WHEREAS, with wit, a great sense of humor, compassion and caring, BETTY RODRIGUEZ combines her professional role as a nurse with her native Spanish-speaking presence and her seasoned experience with at-risk communities, making her a sought-out provider; and

 

WHEREAS, BETTY RODRIGUEZ often challenges systems with direct and provocative questioning, which is needed in order for others to be aware of clients, consumers, and providers needs; and

 

WHEREAS, BETTY RODRIGUEZ continuously strives for learning opportunities to gain information, not only for the families she works with; but also, for the profession of public health nursing, openly providing feedback to those around her so that services, systems and linkages are accessed and utilized in the most appropriate and efficient manner; and

 

WHEREAS, BETTY RODRIGUEZ teaches parenting classes to families in the Pescadero and Half Moon Bay areas, imparting valuable information to the monolingual Spanish-speaking parents, giving those families a renewed sense of confidence and important information on raising healthy children; and

WHEREAS, BETTY RODRIGUEZ was instrumental in the design of the County clinic, located in Daly City, where she worked as a clinic nurse for numerous years before she eventually transitioned her community nurse leadership to Prenatal to Three as a public health nurse,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby extends its congratulations and commends BETTY RODRIGUEZ for being selected as the Women In County Government’s 2010 Community Service Award winner.
