RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||

WARREN SLOCUM CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER & ASSESSOR-COUNTY CLERK-RECORDER | ||||

WHEREAS, WARREN SLOCUM is being honored for a lifetime of excellence in public service on behalf of the people of San Mateo County on November 18, 2010 in Burlingame; and | ||||
WHEREAS, WARREN SLOCUM has served as San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor – County Clerk Recorder since 1986, and has worked hard to encourage every eligible person to register and vote in all elections, protect the integrity of the electoral process, provide equal access to the process, guard against discrimination and fraud, and has always explored reforms that strengthen our democracy; and | ||||
WHEREAS, WARREN SLOCUM has made numerous contributions in the world of elections on behalf of the voters of California, including advocating for verifiable paper audit trails and vote by mail, designing the election website mail ballot tracker, expanding the student poll worker program by inviting high school seniors from every school in the county to participation and opening universal voting centers; and | ||||
WHEREAS, WARREN SLOCUM was recognized for his outstanding work as Chief Elections Officer & Assessor – County Clerk Recorder by the Election Advisory Commission in 2006 and has been dedicated to several community activities, including as a member of the Secretary of State’s Voter Youth Engagement Committee, member of the Elections Resource and Review Commission, International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Treasurers and Elections Officials, recipient of the Charlene A. Silva Award for Outstanding Leadership from the Commission on Disabilities and the Board of Supervisors, past member of the Board of the Directors of the California County Clerks Association, Past President of the Bay Area Assessors’ Association, Founder of the Leader Academy at Stanford University as well as the California Trial Court Training Institute, and Past President of the Redwood Shores Rotary and the Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Club. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on November 18, 2010, hereby commends and honors WARREN SLOCUM for his outstanding leadership and for his 24 years of exemplary public service as San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. The Board extends its best wishes to Warren and his wife Maria on his well deserved retirement. | ||||
