SUBJECT:
Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $725,000 to purchase equipment, training and exercises.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) in the amount of $725,000 recognizing unanticipated revenue to various accounts for the purchase of equipment and emergency response training and exercises.
BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services received funding from the FY 2010 State Homeland Security Grant in order to train, exercise, and equip First Responders to respond to disasters, whether natural or man-made.
On July 13, 2010, your Board adopted Resolution No. 070933 to submit and accept grant funding from the FY 2010 State Homeland Security Grant Program
DISCUSSION:
The proposed Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) authorizes the transfer of $725,000 from unanticipated revenue to fixed assets, training, and safety equipment accounts. A portion of the funds will be used to enhance a Community GIS Based Resource Manual, Community Based Volunteer Shelter Program, Interoperability equipment for countywide fire, Bomb Squad equipment, and medical surge supplies for Public Health and EMS.
This grant funding aligns with the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Collaborative Community by bringing together law enforcement and fire agencies, Public Health, Emergency Medical Services, Public Safety Communications and other vital functions in the County during a disaster or incident through the use of mutual aid.
