BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE: A) PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH PACIFIC INTERPRETERS, INC. FOR TELEPHONIC MEDICAL INTERPRETER SERVICES FOR THE TERM JANUARY 1, 2011 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2013, FOR A MAXIMUM OBLIGATION OF $200,000; AND B) CHIEF OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY’S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, Based on the large number of languages spoken by patients and family members at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC), a commercial vendor is required in order to provide remote telephonic interpretation for SMMC patients with limited English proficiency and employees providing services to them at any hour of any day and in virtually any language; and

 

WHEREAS, SMMC and Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM) jointly conducted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for interpreter services; and

 

WHEREAS, Pacific Interpreters was chosen based on competitive pricing, staff qualifications, responsiveness, and information from other customers; and

 

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement to provide telephonic medical interpreter services to supplement SMMC’s primary translation service system, the Health Care Interpreter Network, for the period of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013, for a total obligation of $200,000; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has examined the Agreement and has approved it as to both form and content.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of the Health System or designee be authorized to execute contract amendments which modify the funding amount by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
