RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH DUC MARCEL NGUYEN, MD TO PROVIDE SPECIALTY ORTHOPEDIC SERVICES WITH NO CHANGE IN TERM, INCREASING FUNDING BY $150,000 TO A NEW MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION OF $575,000

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on April 28, 2009, your Board approved an Agreement with Duc Marcel Nguyen, MD to provide specialty orthopedic services for the term April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2011, for an amount not to exceed $425,000; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) has a need for additional urgent surgery, clinic and call coverage in orthopedics beyond the amounts contemplated in the April 28, 2009 Agreement and Dr. Nguyen has agreed to provide this additional coverage; and

WHEREAS, both parties wish to amend the Agreement to increase the maximum amount payable thereunder by $150,000, from $425,000 to $575,000; and

WHEREAS, the Board has considered the Amendment and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into it.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
