RESOLUTION APPROVING STARS AWARD RECIPIENTS AND HONORABLE MENTIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors approved a Performance Incentives Program (“San Mateo County STARS”) on December 5, 2006 to recognize and reward County programs that have demonstrated outstanding customer service and program performance; and

WHEREAS, in 2008 the Green and Employee Suggestion award categories were added to the STARS Awards Program; and

 

WHEREAS, seventeen (17) program entries and 27 suggestions were considered for the 5th Annual STARS Awards; and

 

WHEREAS, STARS Review Teams reviewed program entries (for Program Performance, Customer Service and Green award categories) and recommended four STARS Award recipients and six Honorable Mentions for approval to the Board of Supervisors;

 

    WHEREAS, the top ranking employee suggestions were reviewed by representatives of County departments and five are recommended for recognition: Public Records Requests - Increase cost per copy (Karen Rodgers); Change Email font to Century Gothic to reduce printing costs (Dr. Anand Chabra); Receive, review and approve invoices for payment electronically (Heather Oda); and Conduct Green Audits to Identify Energy Savings (Marina Yu); and Conduct all voting by absentee ballots to reduce costs (Linda Gunn); and

 

WHEREAS, the STARS Award recipients and amounts for the Program Performance, Customer Service and Green award categories are: Health System’s Ambulatory Electronic Medical Records ($35,000); Health System’s Behavioral Health Quality Management Program ($5,000); Department of Park’s Sign Shop ($2,500); and Health System’s Cordilleras Vegetables Garden ($2,500);

 

WHEREAS, the recommended STARS Honorable Mention recipients are:

Human Services Agency’s Green Jobs Academy ($5,000), Department of Housing’s Moving to Work Program ($5,000), Human Resources Department’s Workers’ Compensation Program ($5,000), Health System’s Medical Psychiatry Clinic ($5,000), Sheriff’s Office Latent Print Processing Technician Program ($2,500) and Health System’s Palliative Care Consultative Services ($2,500);

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors approve the FY 2009-10 STARS Award recipients and Honorable Mentions.
