RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE A CHANGE ORDER BETWEEN KAZIKA CONSTRUCTION AND THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO (HACSM) INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $54,499 TO $304,079, AND EXTENDING THE TERM THROUGH APRIL 30, 2011.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, sitting as the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, in March 2009, HACSM received a formula grant amount of $366,511 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA); and
|
WHEREAS, on February 23, 2010, the Board approved Resolution No. 2010-01 authorizing the execution of an agreement between Kazika Construction and HACSM for a community building remodel at Midway Village for an amount not to exceed $249,580 starting April 1, 2010; and
|
WHEREAS, as part of the Project, an existing building on the property, originally built as a community-use laundry room, is being remodeled for use as a resident association meeting space and community building; and
|
WHEREAS, the project cost has increased by $54,499 as a result of unanticipated expenses associated with an expanded fire suppression system and a revision to the roof structure and material, and
|
WHEREAS, additional time is needed to complete the project as a result of the additional work described above, as well as an initial delay to the start of the project that was beyond the Contractor’s control, and

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo authorize the Executive Director of the Housing Authority to execute a change order between Kazika Construction and the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM) increasing the amount by $54,499 to $304,079, and extending the term through April 30, 2011.
