BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION 1) APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR AND ACCEPTANCE OF A STATE OF CALIFORNIA BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 FOR THE CRYSTAL SPRINGS REGIONAL TRAIL SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 92 PROJECT; 2) AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE IN THE NAME OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO ALL NECESSARY APPLICATIONS, CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, AMENDMENTS AND PAYMENT REQUESTS HERETO FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING THE PURPOSES SPECIFIED IN THE GRANT APPLICATION; AND 3) CERTIFYING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS HAS SUFFICIENT GRANT MATCHING FUNDS FROM ELIGIBLE SOURCES AND THE PARK ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT FUND TO FINANCE 100% OF THE PROJECT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Streets and Highway Code, Bicycle Transportation Account provides funds for grants to local agencies for projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of California, Bicycle Facilities Unit, has the responsibility for the administration of the program with the State, setting up necessary procedures; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County Department of Parks proposes to complete an important segment of the Crystal Springs Regional Trail system that is included in the San Mateo County Comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County, if awarded a grant, will enter into an agreement with the State of California to complete the project.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors:

1)

Approves the application for and acceptance of a State of California Bicycle Transportation Account grant in the amount of $250,000 for the Crystal Springs Regional Trail South of Highway 92 Project;

2)

Authorizes the Director of Public Works or his designee to execute in the name of the County of San Mateo all necessary applications, contracts, agreements, amendments and payment requests hereto for the purpose of implementing the purposes specified in the grant application; and

3)

Certifies that the Department of Parks has sufficient grant matching funds from eligible sources and the Park Acquisition and Development Fund to finance 100% of the project.
