THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

JAY JORDON

2011 San Mateo County Arts Educator of the Year for Music

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

 

WHEREAS, JAY JORDON has been the General Music Director for all Junipero Serra High School and Tri-School (Serra, Notre Dame and Mercy High Schools) musical productions since 1979 and the Artistic Director for Tri-School Productions since 1990; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JAY JORDON has been an advocate for expanded course offerings and better facilities for the visual and performing arts programs at Serra High School, which will open a new Center for the Arts and Sciences in August 2011; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JAY JORDON has taught all of the music classes at Junipero Serra High School for the last 32 years, including their award-winning Tri-School Symphonic Bank, Jazz Band, Men’s Chorus, and introductory music classes; and

   
 

WHEREAS, through the leadership of JAY JORDON, Serra’s music and dramatic arts productions have grown and received numerous awards; and

   
 

WHEREAS, under the direction of JAY JORDON, the Serra Men’s Chorus has performed internationally and was one of only two American choirs invited to perform on the main stage for the 2008 World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JAY JORDON has dedicated his life to providing the highest quality of arts education to many young people,

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends JAY JORDON as the San Mateo County Arts Educator of the Year for Music.
