Appointment and Reappointment to the Fatherhood Collaborative

RECOMMENDATION:

A)

Appoint Bruce Collins to the Fatherhood Collaborative representing Community Member to a term expiring December 31, 2013; and

B)

Reappoint Angel Barrios to the Fatherhood Collaborative representing Community Based Organizations to a term expiring December 31, 2012.

BACKGROUND:

The Fatherhood Collaborative advises the Health System and the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to addressing and supporting the importance of men and fathers taking an active role in the well-being of children and families and with respect to any other related matters that the Health System or Board of Supervisors raise. Terms on the Fatherhood Collaborative are two years with a six-year maximum.

DISCUSSION:

Bruce Collins has been a member of the Fatherhood Collaborative, representing the Probation Department. In fact, he is the current chairman of the Collaborative. Upon his recent retirement, he wanted to continue in his role as a board member. To that end, he wishes to be appointed as a community representative.

Angel Barrios has served on the Fatherhood Collaborative since February 5, 2008 representing community based organizations and wishes to be reappointed to another term.
