RECOMMENDATION:
|
Approve the appointment of Matthew Gloss, representing the At-Large Community, Dean Isaacs, representing the At-Large Community, Ray Rothwell, representing the At-Large Community and Larry Moody, representing the Low-Income Community, to the Housing and Community Development Committee, each to a four-year term expiring December 31, 2015.

BACKGROUND:
|
The Housing and Community Development Committee, which makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters related to the expenditure of all housing and community development funds, currently has three vacancies for members representing the At-Large Community and one vacancy for a member representing the Low-Income Community.

DISCUSSION:
|
Matthew Gloss, who has a law degree, has actively provided community service in home repair and construction through Christmas in April, Rebuilding America and Habitat for Humanity. Dean Isaacs, who also holds a law degree, has extensive experience and expertise in the real estate development industry. Ray Rothwell, who has a passion for community development as it pertains to social and environmental justice, is finishing a degree in Environmental Studies at San Francisco State University and is a volunteer researcher with Sustainable San Mateo County. Larry Moody has gained an understanding of housing and development concerns through his work as a Peer Mentoring Coordinator with the Service League of San Mateo County and as a very active resident in East Palo Alto (EPA) as a member of the Ravenswood City School District and the EPA Sanitary District Board.
