RESOLUTION A)WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS WITH DR. THOMAS W. ROGERS AND DR. PETER A. BENSON FOR THE PROVISION OF FORENSIC PATHOLOGY SERVICES EACH WITH A THE TERM OF JANUARY 1, 2011 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2015 AND EACH IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $979,788; AND B) AUTHORIZING THE CORONER TO EXECUTE SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS NOT TO EXCEED $25,000 IN AGGREGATE FOR EACH CONTRACT AND TO MAKE MINOR CHANGES IN THE TYPE OF SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES PROVIDED UNDER THE AGREEMENTS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration the waiving of the Request for Proposal Process and acceptance; and agreements whereby Thomas W. Rogers, M.D. and Peter A. Benson, M.D. agree to provide Pathology Services to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office; and

 

WHEREAS, both parties wish to enter into said agreement to provide forensic pathology services for the period of January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015 in the amount of $979,788 for each contract; and

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the County to waive the Request for Proposal Process for the execution of the agreement because of the limited number of qualified and available professionals to perform these services and the high quality of work consistently demonstrated by Dr. Rogers and Dr. Benson.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that
A) The Request for Proposal Process is waived and the President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreements with Thomas W. Rogers, M.D. and Peter A. Benson, M.D. to provide pathology services to San Mateo County Coroner (Forensic Pathology) and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto; and B) Authorizing the Coroner to execute subsequent amendments and minor modifications not to exceed $25,000 in aggregate for each contract and to make minor changes in the type of services and activities provided under the agreements.
