BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT ONE TO THE AGREEMENT WITH SELF HELP FOR THE ELDERLY INCREASING THE TOTAL AMOUNT BY $43,198 TO $464,835 WITH NO CHANGE TO THE TERM OF JULY 1, 2010 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board has designated itself as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of San Mateo County to carry out programs pursuant to the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA); and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the AAA administer the programs of the OAA and Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP); and

 

WHEREAS, on September 28, 2010, by Resolution 71056, the Board of Supervisors authorized execution of 23 Agreements for an aggregate total of $3,066,516 for the term July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, to provide an array of services to at-risk individuals in San Mateo County; and

 

WHEREAS, the County has received additional federal funding for HICAP in the amount of $20,995, and Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers (MIPPA) Act funds and 2 MIPPA funds in the amount of $22,203 for a total of $43,198; and

 
 

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to amend the Agreement by increasing the amount by $43,198, changing the maximum obligation from $421,637 to $464,835 for the purpose of expanding HICAP services, including outreach projects that will enhance education, service delivery, and protection of the County’s frail elderly population with no change to the term; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance, Amendment One to the Agreement between the County of San Mateo and Self Help for the Elderly reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, and the Board of Supervisors has examined and approved the same as to form and content and desires to enter into the same.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment One to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
