RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Lee Michelson to the First 5 Commission to a term expiring December 31, 2013.

BACKGROUND:
|
The First 5 Commission is focused on funding early childhood development, health care, parent education and other programs that improve services for children from a pre-natal stage through age five and their families.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION:
|
Lee Michelson has an extensive background in healthcare administration and is currently the Executive Director of the Sequoia Healthcare District. He has previously been the Executive Director of the San Mateo County Health Care Foundation. He has a strong interest in the health care field and especially in the educational needs of young children. Lee Michelson will be a valuable asset to the First 5 Commission as a Public Member of the Board.
