Appointments to the Workforce Investment Board

RECOMMENDATION:
|
Appoint William Lowell and Jorge A. Tapia to the Workforce Investment Board (WIB), each to a two-year term expiring June 30, 2013.
|

BACKGROUND:
|
The mission of the Workforce Investment Board of San Mateo County is to establish and oversee the implementation of policies that promote an integrated and innovative workforce development system. The WIB Board of Directors approved the applications for William Lowell and Jorge A. Tapia at its February 17, 2011 meeting.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION:
|
William Lowell is the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo. Mr. Lowell will replace Dwayne Bay and represent the public sector.
|
|
|
Jorge A. Tapia is the Cluster Manager for San Francisco and San Mateo Counties in the Employment Development Department – Workforce Service. Mr Tapia will replace Linda Gomes and represent the public sector.
