RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||
MILLIE COLE | ||||

WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE has been named “Outstanding Individual” and been selected as the recipient of a 2011 Sequoia Award for her years of service and contributions to the community; and | ||||
WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE has been involved with the Redwood City Optimists and has been committed to community service and teaching volunteerism for many years; and | ||||
WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE, through her involvement with the Woodside High School Octagon Club, mentored students, sought out opportunities for volunteering and developed students’ leadership skills by encouraging them to run the club; and | ||||
WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE took the goals and values of the Octagon Club to heart as she taught by example that volunteering is good for both the individual and the community at large, she engaged students in leadership and responsibility, and she encouraged thinking about the world in a larger context; and | ||||
WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE is known for her energy, empathetic nature, readiness to volunteer, sincerity, effort in all endeavors, enthusiasm and the depth of her commitment to the community; and | ||||
WHEREAS, MILLIE COLE, through her involvement and community service over the many years has dedicated herself to making Redwood City a better place to live for all its residents; | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby honors and commends MILLIE COLE upon being named the 2011 Sequoia Award “Outstanding Individual,” and thanks her for continuing service to the community. | ||||
