RESOLUTION APPOINTING JOHN C. BEIERS AS COUNTY COUNSEL

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, in the fall of 2010, the former County Counsel, Michael P. Murphy, announced his intent to retire from employment with the County of San Mateo, effective as of March 19, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has conducted a broad-based and competitive recruitment to fill the vacancy in the position of County Counsel created by Mr. Murphy’s retirement; and

WHEREAS, having considered the qualifications of many strong applicants and after due deliberation, on March 1, 2011, and pursuant to Section 410 of the San Mateo County Charter, this Board offered the position of County Counsel to John C. Beiers, and Mr. Beiers has accepted that offer.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that John C. Beiers be and hereby is appointed County Counsel for the County of San Mateo, effective as of the payroll period starting March 20, 2011, at the D Step salary level for the position classification, and with other benefits as prescribed for the position.
