RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

JERRY DONOVAN

2011 DOLORES MULLIN ‘LIKE A ROCK’ AWARD

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN was born to Jerry and Ruth Donovan, grew up in Daly City and graduated from Westmoor High School and went to the College of San Mateo; and

   

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN in 1966 joined the US Army, and while in the Army met his future wife Felicia Pinto and they were married November 4, 1967; and

   

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN joined the San Francisco Police Department in 1969 and retired after 30 years working primarily in the Honda’s Unit as a Motorcycle Instructor, and while with the SFPD was on their Traveling Baseball Tournament Team; and

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN and Felicia had two sons, Sean in 1973 and Travis (TJ) in 1977, and moved their family in 1976 to Half Moon Bay, becoming grandparents to five wonderful children courtesy of their son Sean and daughter-in-law Shannon; and

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN has always been active in sports, being an avid golfer and a strong supporter of his sons in sports as they grew up, coaching Little League, and;

   

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN, in 1993 was elected to his first of two terms on the Half Moon Bay City Council, becoming Mayor in 1999; and

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN in 2009 was elected to the Coastside County Water District and is currently Vice President of their Board; and

WHEREAS, JERRY DONOVAN is said to be bigger than life, bigger than his SFPD Badge, Star #747.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize and congratulate JERRY DONOVAN who is considered a rock to all of his family, friends and community, having always been there for them.
